Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation is a non-surgical, temporary cosmetic procedure used to create fuller lips and reduce fine wrinkles around the lip line. A variety of materials are available to accomplish this, including the patient’s own fat and Radiesse®. Our cosmetic surgeons can advise you as to the material that is best for your lip augmentation.
The Lip Augmentation Procedure
During the lip augmentation procedure, the chosen material is injected into the area of the lip to be enhanced. Usually one injection to the area is all that is necessary to produce the desired result. Pain is controlled with topical anesthesia, and our patients return to normal activities immediately after treatment. Side effects include allergic reactions that may cause redness, swelling, and itching. Bleeding and lip asymmetry may also occur.
How Long do Results Last?
The length of time the results of the lip augmentation last depends upon the method chosen. Each method has its own advantages, disadvantages, and characteristics, so it is important that if you are considering lip augmentation you have a thorough and full evaluation and consultation. This consultation should include your medical history and your desired lip augmentation outcome.
